OurEnvironment.scot goes live!

How would you change your environment?

In partnership with the Scotland's Environment Web (SEWeb), GeoGeo has been developing a new geo-enabled competition platform.  For the first time, the Youth Discussion competition will be crowd-sourcing its entries from Scotland's young people, which aims to promote interest in the environment and in particular engagement with citizen science and citizen action.

Until March 31st, any individual or group between the ages of five and eighteen can submit their ideas for how we can live more sustainable, low carbon lives.  All entrants will be judged by YoungScot representatives, with prizes of up to £1000 up for grabs!

So if you are under 18 and living in Scotland, get yersel' to OurEnvironment.scot and submit your ideas for our sustainable future!

Here comes the (geo)science bit!

The platform itself has been developed using the open source (geo)Django application stack, powered by a spatially enabled PostgreSQL database.  This allows users to explore the entries via our map interface, with judges being permitted to view the whole entry before the competition deadline and cast their votes!
